Horserace Totalisator Board Act 1997

1997 Chapter 1

An Act to confer power on the Horserace Totalisator Board to receive or negotiate bets made otherwise than by way of pool betting.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1New corporate powers for the Horserace Totalisator Board

Section 1 of the [1972 c. 69.] Horserace Totalisator and Betting Levy Boards Act 1972 shall be amended as follows.

For subsection (1)(b) there shall be substituted—

by way of business to receive or negotiate bets on any event made otherwise than by way of pool betting, except bets on the outcome of any lottery forming part of the National Lottery for the purposes of Part I of the [1993 c. 39.] National Lottery etc. Act 1993.

In subsection (2) the words “or (b)” shall be omitted.

2Short title and extent

This Act may be cited as the Horserace Totalisator Board Act 1997.

This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.
