
Holocaust Memorial Act 2026
An Act to make provision for expenditure by the Secretary of State and the removal of restrictions in respect of certain land for or in connection with the construction of a Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre.
Be it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1Expenditure relating to a Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre
(1)
The Secretary of State may incur expenditure for or in connection with—
(a)
the construction on, over or under any land of—
(i)
a memorial commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, and
(ii)
a centre for learning relating to the memorial,
(b)
the carrying out of any work ancillary to, or associated with, anything falling within paragraph (a), and
(c)
the use, operation, maintenance or improvement of the memorial and the centre for learning.
(2)
Expenditure incurred under this section is to be paid out of money provided by Parliament.
(3)
For the purposes of subsection (1)(a), “construction” includes erection, extension, alteration and re-erection.
2Removal of restrictions in relation to certain land
Section 8(1) and (8) of the London County Council (Improvements) Act 1900 does not prevent, restrict or otherwise affect the carrying out of any of the activities described in paragraphs (a) to (c) of section 1(1) on, over, under or otherwise in relation to the land described in section 8(1) of that Act.
3Extent, commencement and short title
(1)
This Act extends to England and Wales only.
(2)
This Act comes into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which this Act is passed.
(3)
This Act may be cited as the Holocaust Memorial Act 2026.
